Top 5 cutest baby knitting projects

Top 5 cutest baby knitting projects

We’re not ashamed to admit it – we’ve gone baby mad! There is a plethora of adorable baby projects out there and we’ve picked five of the cutest for your enjoyment.

Whether you knit for your own child or someone else’s little one, knitting for babies is such a joy. It’s not just cardigans and bootees, though; there are so many beautiful designs to choose from! Here are just five of the sweetest little projects.

1. Tutu, Nikki Van De Car
This fluffy little number from Nikki Van De Car comes from her book What to Knit When You’re Expecting (published by Kyle Books, RRP £14.99) and the pattern sizes range from newborn to 12 months. Knitted in Debbie Bliss Angel and Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, it is worked mostly in garter stitch and has an elasticated waistband, making it easy to pull on to baby. Buy the book here.

2. Goldfish cardigan, Tin Can Knits
Nothing says playful like this fun and vibrant goldfish jumper! It’s all about the little details, with the cable rib around the bottom, oodles of rainbow-coloured buttons and, of course, the rows of swimming goldfish! The pattern is available to purchase on Ravelry, with sizes reaching 10 years.

3. Bird House dress, Katia
This lovely nostalgic sundress, with its bird boxes and fun stripey design, is a cute and classic summer project. It can be found in Katia’s Baby 1 Spring/Summer book and is knitted in Katia Mississippi 3 yarn.

4. Rosebud crossover and rosebud bear, Debbie Bliss
Okay so when we said top five, we meant top six! These two matching patterns from Debbie Bliss are the epitome of adorable and we’re sure any baby would love the idea of dressing to match their teddy! Both patterns feature in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino 5 and are each knitted in Debbie Bliss Eco Baby yarn. To buy the book and yarn, click here.

5. Warm vest, Vibe Ulrik Sondergaard
Who could resist this classy little vest – or the little model wearing it? It works for both girls and boys, and the cap sleeves can be omitted if you wish. The design comes from Lullaby Knits (published by Collins & Brown, RRP £16.99), which you can buy here.
