Cute Animal Knitting Patterns For Fans of Springwatch

Cute Animal Knitting Patterns For Fans of Springwatch

BBC Springwatch is back on our screens for another series of adorable animal stories. To get in the spirit, we’ve picked out just a few of our brilliant animal-themed patterns that Let’s Knit Together members can enjoy as part of their membership. If you’re not already part of the club, join us today from as little as £1* for your first month.

Easy Fox Baby Booties

Use small amounts of DK yarn from your stash to knit Claire Garland’s cute and easy shoes for ages 0-3 months. The main section uses garter stitch and stocking stitch, while the fox features are worked separately. Just remember to sew them on really securely for safety reasons. If you’d like to make adult versions, check out our other slipper patterns that can be adapted and embellished for that fabulous fox finish.

Duck Family

Make a family of cute knitted mallard ducks, featuring a colourful drake, soft brown female duck and a cheery yellow duckling. Designed by Laura Telfer-Williams, this pattern is easy to knit with just a little bit of colourwork to help boost your skill set. They would be great for acting out your little one’s favourite stories or nursery rhymes.

Knitted Bird House

Nicola Valiji’s gorgeous birdbox design is not only a joy to look at with all its little details, it’s practical too. The roof is designed with a hinge so you can lift the lid and stash… well, anything you like (within reason and size limitations). All the individual elements are straightforward to knit and can be made with small amounts of DK yarn from your stash.

Easy Blue Tit Bird

Albie the blue tit is one of our favourite designs by Nicky Fijalkowsa and blue tits are always a hit on the ‘Watch’s live cameras. This easy blue tit bird knitting pattern is fun and fast - you can make this cute bird in just a few hours! Follow the step-by-step instructions to knit a sweet blue tit bird as a gift or home accent piece. Albie is made in six different shades of DK yarn but as he requires no more than 5g of each colour - he’s the ideal stash buster!

Easy Ladybird Toy

It’s not just the time of year for fluffy animal babies, the incredible and fascinating world of bugs is enjoying the spring too, so check out Nicky Fijalkowska’s super-cute ladybird knitting pattern. Using a soft and snuggly yarn that is perfect for little ones, this project can be completed in no time at all. The spots are sewn on separately, so you won’t have to worry about complicated colourwork and the features are simple felt shapes.
