AmaWaterways launch New Year’s knitting themed cruise for 2015

With an increasing interest in all things knitted, this cruise couldn’t have come at a better time. By commissioning the cruise, AmaWaterways have created a way to celebrate knitters old and new by providing unique knitting classes, and of course a holiday. What a treat! Kristin Karst, Executive Vice President and Co-Owner of AmaWaterways said: “Knitting appeals to a younger generation these days, and we thought it would be a fun and creative outlet for our guests. This cruise will bring together a community of knitters and give them opportunities to learn new techniques, find inspiration for new projects, and show off their personal style and creativity.”

On board classes will be hosted by Barry Klein, owner of Trendsetter Yarns in Los Angeles and past president of the National Needlework Association. Klein will be teaching guests a host of new stitch patterns, as well as various techniques to improve and enhance knitting skills.

The cruise ship, named the AmaBella, will sail the Danube River from 27 December 2014, until 2 January 2015. A New Year’s Eve celebration will be held on board, complete with music, champagne, and lots of knitting folk to swap tips with. “Think of this cruise as an on board knitting meetup for people of all levels, from beginners to advanced. It will definitely be a unique and fashion-forward way to ring in 2015,” said Karst. The AmaBella departs from Vilshofen, Germany and will provide guests with guided tours of Vienna, Budapest and more.
