11 Of Our Favourite Cat Makes

11 Of Our Favourite Cat Makes

Read about our favourite cat-related patterns, accessories and kits!

A cat may not be man’s best friend, but they’re certainly favoured by us knitters! Every cat has a natural curiosity for yarn, which is expressed through the reckless scratching, biting and unwinding of your brand new Debbie Bliss Pure Silk skein. Did we mention cats have expensive taste too?

As National Cat Day runs into its eleventh year on the 29th of October, we’ve compiled a list of eleven amazing kitty related products and events for all our fellow cat-lovers out there!

1. Sirdar’s Touch Cat Pattern
Kittens and cats are always ready to play. They’re happy to play alone, with you, or with your expensive leather furnishings- they’re not fussy you see. These playful knitted kittens are incredibly soft, adorable to look at, and 100% guaranteed not to claw your eyes out just for petting them. The pattern for this cheeky trio costs £2.75 from www.wool4less.co.uk

Sophie Allport’s Purrfect Cat Bag
Following a giveaway for these in Let’s Knit Mag, we had to mention them again, just look how adorable they are! If there was ever such a thing as a perfect bag size, Sophie Allport has nailed it. It’s large enough to fit in your knitting projects and essentials, but is also incredibly lightweight! The bag costs £19 from www.sophieallport.com

Edward’s Menagerie’s Cat Kit
Ever fancied your hand at crocheted amigurumi animals? Well, now’s your chance! Toft have an impressive range of endearing animals and aliens to make, but this cat stole our hearts! Knitted in 100% wool, this incredibly soft cat is available in a range of twelve colours, and costs £18 from www.thetoftalpacashop.co.uk

Knitted Cats and Kittens
Who wouldn’t want an entire army of knitted kittens lining their fireplace? Crazy people, that’s who. Sue Stratford’s amazing little book provides patterns ranging from cuddly cats to cat doorstops, cat hot water bottles and a knitted scratching post. If you love knitting and cats in equal amounts, this book is for you. It costs £9.99 from www.searchpress.com

John Lewis Napping Cats Print Scarf
Here at LK, we believe you should be proud of your cat addiction, so what better way to show it off than by wearing your feline friends (not literally). This neutral, fashionable scarf is adorned with drawings of cats in their best state- asleep and unable to ruin our furniture. It costs £30 from www.johnlewis.com

Cat Protection: Christmas Knit Cat Call
Crafty cat-lovers are being urged to remember unwanted and abandoned cats this Christmas by making cosy blankets and fun mouse toys as part of the Cats Protection’s knitting bee. The charity will be launching its Christmas appeal at the Knitting and Stitching Show at the Harrogate International Centre from 24-27 November. Donations of knitted blankets or mice can be brought along to the charity’s stand at the event, or dropped into any of its branches, shops or adoption centres across the UK. Find out more information by visiting www.cats.org.uk

Knitted Cat Hat Pattern
Cat obsessions are best started young, so knit this cutesy knitted cat hat for your little ones and get them on board the cat-lover train! This simple knit incorporates seed and stockinette stitches, which makes it perfect for beginner and advanced knitters alike! The pattern costs £1.79 from www.knitpicks.com

This classic eyelash is a fun addition to any yarn stash and it’s affordable too. It
costs £1.89 per 50g (80m) ball from www.thecheapshoptiptree.co.uk

Cats in Hats
Sara Thomas has managed to combine two of our favourite things, cats and hats, in the most endearing way possible.
